Why Freeze-Dried Treats Are Safer (And Tastier) Than You Think

Walk down the treats aisle in any Singapore pet store and you’ll see dozens of shiny bags. Most are baked, extruded, or heat-processed at temperatures high enough to strip away the very nutrients pet parents are paying for.

Freeze-drying is different. It’s a slow, careful process that removes moisture at very low temperatures — preserving proteins, enzymes, vitamins and that irresistible real-meat smell that makes dogs go a little bit nuts.

The science, minus the boring bits

Freeze-drying works in three stages: freezing, vacuum, and gentle drying. Because the process stays below the temperatures that denature proteins, you end up with shelf-stable food that’s nutritionally closest to raw — without the refrigeration headaches.

Why this matters for your pup

  • Higher nutrient retention — up to 97% of vitamins preserved, compared to ~40% for baked kibble.
  • Hypoallergenic-friendly — no binders, fillers, or preservatives that trigger common sensitivities.
  • Intense aroma & flavour — for picky eaters and rescue pups rebuilding trust with food.
  • Long shelf life — no refrigeration needed, which keeps things simple in Singapore’s humid weather.
"The first time I gave Whiskey a freeze-dried piece of rabbit, he did three loops around the kitchen. I’ve never seen him react to food like that." — Eric, Woofifi Founder

What to look for when you’re shopping

Not all freeze-dried treats are created equal. Read the ingredients panel. If you see more than the protein source and maybe one or two supporting ingredients, put it back. Woofifi’s core range is exactly one ingredient: the meat itself. That’s it. That’s the secret.

5 Signs Your Dog Is Overdue for a Grooming Session

In Singapore’s humid climate, regular grooming isn’t just about looking good — it’s about health. Here are five signs your pup is overdue, and what to do about each.

1. The sniff test fails you

A healthy dog shouldn’t smell strongly. A noticeable "doggy" odour — especially if it lingers after a bath — often signals trapped moisture, skin fold issues, or ear infections. Time for a professional bath and inspection.

2. Paw scratching has become background noise

Constant foot licking or scratching often means overgrown fur between paw pads, which traps debris, causes slipping on tile floors, and can lead to fungal infections.

3. You can’t see their eyes

Overgrown facial hair isn’t just a cute-factor problem — it collects tears, rubs corneas, and creates chronic discomfort. A quick face trim every 3–4 weeks solves it.

4. Nails clicking on the floor

If you can hear them walk, nails are too long. Overgrown nails change a dog’s posture, stress joints, and make day-to-day walking painful over time.

5. They’re avoiding pets on the back or belly

This is often a sign of matted fur pulling on skin. Mats aren’t just cosmetic — they cause real pain and can hide skin conditions underneath.

The hardest part of grooming in Singapore isn’t the grooming itself — it’s getting there. Pet taxis, Grab surcharges, waiting rooms. That’s exactly the problem the Woofifi app is built to solve.

When we launch the Woofifi app, you’ll be able to book certified groomers who come to you — and watch the session live. Learn more →

Celebrating Mid-Autumn: Safe Mooncake Treats Your Dog Will Love

Every Mid-Autumn Festival, our family gathers, lanterns come out, and mooncakes are passed around. And every year, at least one dog in the room gives us The Look — the one that says, "why am I the only one not eating?"

Traditional mooncakes are a no-go for dogs. Lotus paste is too sweet, egg yolks are too rich, and most contain ingredients that range from unhelpful to downright unsafe. So we created a version made just for them.

What’s in a Woofifi Mooncake?

  • Shredded chicken breast — lean, high-protein, universally loved.
  • Sweet potato — naturally sweet, gentle on tummies, full of fibre.
  • A dusting of freeze-dried liver — our secret weapon for that "I’d do anything for this" reaction.

No sugar. No lotus paste. No raisins. No chocolate. No mystery ingredients. Just three things, shaped into little mooncakes with a Woofifi heart stamp.

Safe for humans too (yes, really)

Here’s the fun part: our Mid-Autumn treats are formulated to be safe for pet owners to taste. Don’t get us wrong — they’re made for your dog, not you. But if you’re curious (or feeling left out of the lantern festivities), a nibble won’t hurt.

"I made my brother-in-law try one at a dinner last year. His face — priceless. Then he admitted it wasn’t bad. Savoury, a bit bland. Exactly right for a dog." — Eric

Coming September 2026

Our limited-edition Mid-Autumn Mooncakes drop in September 2026, just in time for the festival. Quantities are — as the name suggests — limited. Join the waitlist to get first access.
